Grounding

Several clients have asked me recently about grounding mats and blankets. These devices plug into the grounded hole of your electrical outlets and they supposedly help with a variety of issues. I haven’t used one but I believe the science involved is sound. However, there is a great way to ground that is 100% free: standing barefoot on the earth.

When you stand barefoot on the ground- not concrete, but actual earth, your body exchanges negative ions with the earth- just like with a grounding mat or blanket. Want a stronger affect? More skin contact.

Walking barefoot on the earth will also help with things like falling arches and plantar fasciitis. I like to take my shoes off when I’m hiking. It’s wonderful to feel all the textures of nature under your foot.
